About Awaiit

What is Awaiit?
Awaiit is a crowdsourced wait-time intelligence platform. Community members report real wait times at local venues so you can see how busy a spot is before you leave home. The idea is simple: know before you go.
Who is Awaiit for?
Anyone who's tired of walking into an unexpectedly packed restaurant or waiting 45 minutes for a table they didn't see coming. If you visit local spots in Ridgewood, NJ, Awaiit helps you plan smarter and spend less time waiting.
Is Awaiit free to use?
Completely free — no subscription, no premium tier, no hidden fees. Creating an account and viewing or submitting wait times costs nothing.
Where is Awaiit currently available?
Awaiit is currently focused on Ridgewood, NJ, covering 32 popular local venues. Expansion to additional areas is something we're actively thinking about as the community grows.
Is there a mobile app?
Not yet — Awaiit is currently web-only, but the site is fully optimized for mobile browsers. Just open awaiit.com on your phone for the full experience. Native iOS and Android apps may come down the road.

Wait Times

How do I check a wait time?
Open Awaiit and browse the map or venue list. Each venue displays its current estimated wait time, color-coded by how busy it is. Tap any pin or venue card to see more detail and how recent the data is.
How do I report a wait time?
Find the venue you're currently at, tap it, and select the wait time you're experiencing right now. Reports go live immediately for the rest of the community and take just a few seconds to submit.
Do I need an account to submit a report?
Yes — a free Awaiit account is required to submit reports. This keeps the data trustworthy and lets you earn points for your contributions. Browsing wait times does not require an account.
How often are wait times updated?
Estimates update in real time as community members submit new reports. The more people reporting at a given venue, the fresher and more reliable the estimate.
What if a venue has no recent reports?
If no one has reported recently, the estimate may appear stale or flagged as low-confidence. We always show you how recent the underlying data is so you can judge how much to rely on it.
Can I report that there's no wait at all?
Absolutely — reporting a 0-minute wait is just as valuable as reporting a long one. It tells the community that a spot is wide open right now, which is exactly the kind of intel people are looking for.

Accuracy & Trust

How accurate are the wait times?
Accuracy improves with community participation. When multiple people report from the same venue in a short window, estimates become highly reliable. A venue with a single older report will carry more uncertainty — we reflect this in how confidence is displayed.
How does Awaiit calculate wait time estimates?
We use a Bayesian blending model that weights recent reports more heavily than older ones. The more consistent and recent the data, the tighter the estimate. Outliers are automatically down-weighted so one bad report doesn't skew the full picture.
What happens if someone submits an inaccurate report?
Our algorithm is designed to absorb occasional bad data — a single outlier won't break an estimate. The community can also flag inaccurate reports, and accounts with a pattern of poor reporting may lose submission privileges.
Can I rate whether a reported wait was accurate?
Yes — Awaiit has a built-in accuracy feedback system. After visiting a venue, you can rate whether the displayed wait matched what you actually experienced. This feedback directly improves future estimates at that location.

Account & Profile

Do I need an account to browse Awaiit?
No — you can view wait times freely without logging in. An account is only required to submit reports, earn points, or track your contribution history.
How do I create an account?
Click "Sign Up" on the Awaiit homepage, enter your email address, and choose a password. The whole process takes under a minute.
How do I reset my password?
On the login screen, click "Forgot password" and enter your email. A reset link will arrive shortly — check your spam folder if it doesn't show up within a few minutes.
Can I update my username or email address?
Yes — both can be changed from your profile settings while logged in.
How do I delete my account?
Send a request to support@awaiit.com with the subject line "Account Deletion" and we'll take care of it promptly, including removing your associated data.

Points & Rewards

What are points?
Points are Awaiit's way of recognizing your contributions to the community. Every wait time report you submit earns you points, and accurate reports earn you more. They reflect your standing as a trusted community contributor.
How do I earn points?
Submit wait time reports to earn points with each submission. You can also earn bonus points when other users rate your reports as accurate — so the better your reports, the faster your points grow.
What are badges?
Badges are achievements you unlock by hitting milestones — like submitting your first report, reporting from multiple venues, or being a top contributor for the week. They're displayed on your profile.
Is there a leaderboard?
Yes — Awaiit has a community leaderboard showing how your contributions compare to other Ridgewood locals. It updates in real time as reports come in.
Do points expire?
No — points don't expire. Every report you've ever submitted stays on your record permanently.

Technical

What browsers does Awaiit support?
Awaiit works best on up-to-date versions of Chrome, Safari, Firefox, and Edge. If you're on an older browser and running into display issues, try updating to the latest version first.
The site isn't loading — what should I do?
Try a hard refresh (Ctrl+Shift+R on Windows / Cmd+Shift+R on Mac), clear your browser cache, or switch to a different browser. If the problem continues, let us know at support@awaiit.com with details about your device and browser.
Does Awaiit work offline?
No — an active internet connection is required to load wait times and submit reports. Make sure you're on a stable Wi-Fi or mobile data connection before using the app.
Why isn't the "Locate Me" / GPS feature working?
Your browser needs location permission to use Locate Me. If it's not working, check that you've allowed location access for awaiit.com in your browser settings. On mobile, also make sure your device's location services are turned on.
I found a bug — how do I report it?
